Step 1

Build your style profile.

Folio learns how you edit from films you've already made. Upload 4 or more MP3s from past weddings you're proud of — the dialogue audio from your final cut with music muted. Folio transcribes each one and builds a profile of your editorial instincts: what you select, how you pace, what you leave out.

What to upload
Export the audio from your finished wedding films. Mute every music and ambience track, keep the ceremony, speeches, and voiceover. Export as MP3, mono, 32kbps. Files must be under 25MB.
How many films
Minimum 4. The more you upload, the more Folio understands your voice. After transcription, you can review and edit each transcript before generating your profile.

Step 2

Start a new project.

Name the couple, choose your NLE and frame rate. Add optional context — venue, cultural background, day energy, genre references — and Folio factors it into the edit plan. The more context, the more tailored the output.

NLE support
Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, and DaVinci Resolve are all supported. Choose the one you're editing in and the export file will be formatted correctly for it.
Context fields
Everything is optional except the couple names, NLE, and frame rate. But adding a venue, cultural background, or a note like “keep it under 4 minutes” gives Folio real material to work with.

Step 3

Upload your audio.

Upload your synced sequence XML from your NLE alongside the dialogue audio as an MP3. Folio uses the XML for clip positions and timecodes, and the audio to transcribe the words. Both files must share the same base filename.

Synced sequence XML
Before exporting, make sure all the dialogue you want transcribed is synced together in a single sequence — ceremony, speeches, and any other parts of the day you want to include (MC entrance, toasts, and so on). Export one XML and one MP3 from that sequence. In Premiere: File > Export > Final Cut Pro XML.

For the best transcript, solo your clearest dialogue track — a lav or dedicated mic if you have one. Mute everything else. Export as MP3, mono, 96kbps or higher. Max 50MB.

Step 4

Folio generates.

Hit Generate and Folio reads the transcript through your style profile. It builds up to 5 acts, selects the strongest VO moments for each, writes visual notes, and generates a music brief shaped by the day's energy. The timeline tab loads first. Reels, music, and export follow on demand.

Up to 5 acts built around your style profile. Each act has a name, timecode range, director's note, and selected VO pulls.
VO pulls
Every selected line includes the exact timecode, speaker ID, and the camera clip it came from. Nothing vague.
Music brief
A suggested music direction shaped by the day's energy, cultural context, and the emotional arc of the edit.
Step 5

Review your
edit plan.

Your edit plan lives across three tabs: Timeline, Reels, and Music. The Timeline shows every act with its VO pulls and visual notes. Reels suggests social cuts from the strongest moments. Music gives you a brief to take to your library.

Acts in order, each with selected VO lines, exact timecodes, speaker labels, and a director's visual note. This is your edit blueprint.
Reels tab
Suggested cuts for social. Folio pulls the most emotionally resonant moments and structures them as short-form sequences.
Music tab
A music brief describing energy, pace, and feel for each act. Take it to your music library or send it to a composer.

Export to your NLE.

Download your sequence file and open it directly in Premiere, Final Cut, or Resolve. All camera tracks are placed and ready. Every VO clip is trimmed to the exact in and out points Folio selected (Pro and above). Open the file and the structure is already there.

Includes a markers sequence — every VO moment marked on your timeline so you can build the cut yourself with the structure already visible.
