Folio turns your synced wedding footage into a structured first-cut edit plan: act structure, VO pulls with timecodes, music briefs, and reel sequences. Then it exports a ready-to-open timeline for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.

A sequence XML exported from your editor, plus the dialogue audio from that same sequence as an .mp3, .m4a, .wav or .aac file. Both should share the same base filename.

Sync everything Folio should work with into a single sequence: ceremony, speeches, and any other parts of the day you want to include (MC entrance, toasts, and so on), all on one timeline. Folio reads it as one continuous edit. Sync however you normally do; Folio just needs the finished synced sequence exported as XML.

Premiere Pro: File → Export → Final Cut Pro XML. Final Cut Pro: File → Export XML. DaVinci Resolve: export the timeline as FCP7 XML.

Export the dialogue audio from the same synced sequence as an .mp3, .m4a, .wav or .aac, using the same base filename as the XML.

Export your cleanest single dialogue track (a lavalier or a dedicated mic) and mute everything else. Cleaner audio means more accurate timecodes.

That's fine. Folio mirrors your source audio exactly and won't change your channels. Mono-on-one-side carries through unchanged, ready to convert in your editor.

Extra direction for Folio: edit style, film length, songs, venue, cultural background, wedding energy, music style, and anything else worth knowing. All optional; Folio works without them.

Only if you have a preference. Most default to “Let Folio decide.” Fill one in to steer the result; leave the default to let Folio choose.

It's optional. Set the act structure yourself if you want. Leave it out and Folio decides the act structure based on the material.

After Folio generates the plan, you can refine it. For example, “make the final act more emotional.” Each refine creates a new version so you can compare.

Core includes 1 refine per project, Pro 3, and Studio 5. Each refine creates a new version, and your original plan is always preserved.

You can buy refine token packs any time. Tokens top up your refines once a project's included refines are used. A one-time purchase, account-wide, and they never expire. They're available on every plan, even while your subscription is paused. Find them under Settings → Plan.

Folio finds more VO moments than it places. The rest sit in your VO Bank, a collapsible panel on your Timeline and Transcript tabs listing the runner-up pulls with speaker, quote, and a suggested act. From there you can swap a pull already in your timeline for a banked alternate, remove a pull from an act (it returns to the bank), or use the + between pulls to adda banked line. Every action is something you choose: Folio never swaps, adds, or removes on its own, and adding or swapping a pull doesn't re-plan the rest of your timeline around it.

Open the Transcript tab to read your full transcript, grouped by speaker and broken into readable paragraphs, with a search box for finding a line fast. Click a line to select it (neighbouring lines from the same speaker merge into a single pull), then hit Add to VO Bank. From there, use swap or + to place it in your timeline wherever you want; it works exactly like any other banked pull.

No. Swaps, adds, and removes apply to the plan you're looking at, but they aren't saved as a version the way a refine is. Refining, or switching to an earlier version, rebuilds the plan from that saved version and discards them; Folio warns you first so it's always your call. Your VO Bank also reflects the original generation. Refining a project doesn't refresh what's in it.

Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. You choose which one when setting up the project.

Premiere Pro / DaVinci Resolve: import the XML. Final Cut Pro:import into a new, empty project. It's the smoothest way, and footage links in cleanly.

In Final Cut Pro, Folio colour-codes your VO pulls by pool. The video clips of neighbouring pulls alternate between the Dialogue and Music roles so you can see at a glance which clips group together while you build the cut. Your lav / external-mic audio (your “Speeches” and “Ceremony” clips) stays on the Dialogue role, with each mic on a subrole of its own so every mic gets its own lane. It's a sorting aid only. Important: the camera audio inside every other pull's video clips sits on the Music role. Before you export audio stems, solo by role, or run any role-based audio operation, reassign the Folio pull video clips back to the Dialogue role. Otherwise camera audio will land on your Music stem.

Your editor can't find the original media at its location. Connect or relink your source footage and audio. This is about where your media lives, not the Folio export.

This is different from an offline clip: the footage never appears at all, with nothing to relink. It came from a parsing issue where synchronized and compound clips in your Final Cut sequence weren't read fully, so some angles and b-roll layers were skipped. That's now fixed. Re-upload the affected project so Folio can re-read the sequence. Re-exporting an existing project isn't enough, since the missing clips need to be parsed in on a fresh upload.

Folio now matches your export's resolution to your footage automatically, so this shouldn't happen. If you still see it after a fresh export, set your Final Cut project resolution to match your footage (for example, a 4K project for 4K footage) and re-import.
